My Life As a DumpsterHave you ever taken the time to consider what we dumpsters have to go through?
If not, I understand. Most people haven't. But for us hard working dumpsters, it can be a bit frustrating. All we are to you is a place to put your trash. And it can really get us down in the dumps (sorry). Every day, I deal with something new. Yesterday it was something truly horrible. Have you ever seen a parade? Have you ever seen horses in a parade? Guess where that mess ends up? You got it. One time a little girl was smiling and waving. I thought that I had finally received the kind of attention that I deserved. Much to the horror of her mother, it wasn't me she was waving at but a rat living inside me! I get no respect. There are some who come to me for shelter, and I know that they have to be in a desperate situation to choose to do that. I can barely stand knowing that there are people who have no better options than to live inside me. I feel protective of them and long to help them achieve a better life. There are actually a couple of things that make me really happy! You know how some people go dumpster diving? When that happens, I feel excited. When people choose to spend time with me by doing something like that, it helps me to feel a little better about myself. My life is also exciting when I get lifted onto the big truck and go for a breezy drive. Yes, the life of a rolloff dumpster in Milford NH is definitely different. It might not be fun all the time, but it is the only life i have ever known and I love being of value to the community. So the next time you pass by a dumpster, won't you say hello? We'll be here for us when you need us. |
